FAQ
Questions, answered
Everything you need to know before applying.
Who is eligible for a CreditAU business loan?
Australian businesses with an active ABN, at least 4–6 months of trading and $5,000+ in monthly revenue. We work with 700+ industries in every state and territory.
Will checking my options affect my credit score?
No. Seeing your options has zero impact on your credit file. A credit check only happens if you choose to go ahead with a formal application, and we tell you before it does.
How quickly will I hear back?
Most applicants hear from a specialist within a few hours on business days. Accepted offers can often be funded the same day.
How much can I borrow?
From $5,000 up to $5,000,000, depending on the product, your revenue and whether you can offer security.
What documents do I need?
Usually just your ABN and 6 months of business bank statements. No business plan or tax returns for most applications.
Can I get a business loan with bad credit?
Often, yes. Several lenders on our panel assess your current cash flow rather than past credit events. Select 'Impaired' in the form and we'll match you accordingly.
How do business loans work in Australia?
A lender advances a lump sum (or a credit limit) to your business, and you repay it plus interest and fees over an agreed term — usually daily, weekly or monthly. Unsecured loans rely on your cash flow; secured loans use property or assets to get a lower rate.
Can I get a small business loan as a new business?
Yes, from around 4–6 months of trading. Lenders mainly want an active ABN, consistent deposits in your business bank account and $5,000+ in monthly revenue.
What is the interest rate on a business loan in Australia?
It depends on the product and your profile. Secured loans and equipment finance start from roughly 7.9–8% p.a., while unsecured and fast loans start from around 14% p.a. You see the full cost before you sign.
How is CreditAU different from a bank?
Banks can take weeks, need heavy paperwork and focus on credit history. We compare a panel of lenders, give decisions within hours and look at how your business actually performs.
Fast Business Loan
How fast can I get a business loan in Australia?
With CreditAU most applicants receive a decision within a few hours on business days, and accepted offers can settle the same day.
Do I need a good credit score for a fast business loan?
No. Lenders on our panel look at your business's actual cash flow, not just a credit score. Past credit issues don't automatically rule you out.
Can I use a fast loan to pay an ATO debt?
Yes. Paying tax debt to the ATO is one of the most common reasons Australian businesses use short-term funding.
Unsecured Business Loan
How much can I borrow unsecured?
Most businesses can borrow roughly 1 to 2 times their monthly revenue unsecured. Larger, established businesses can access up to $1M.
Will I need a personal guarantee?
Most unsecured business loans in Australia require a director's guarantee, even though no property is used as security.
Secured Business Loan
What can I use as security?
Residential property, commercial property, vehicles and business equipment can all be used as security, depending on the lender.
Is a secured loan cheaper?
Usually yes. Secured loans start from around 8% p.a. compared with about 14% p.a. for unsecured funding.
Equipment Finance
Can I finance used equipment?
Yes. Most lenders on our panel finance both new and used equipment from dealers and private sellers.
Equipment finance vs a business loan?
Equipment finance is usually cheaper because the asset secures the loan. A business loan is more flexible if you need funds for more than just the equipment.
Business Line of Credit
How does a business line of credit work?
You're approved for a limit, draw what you need, and pay interest only on the drawn balance. As you repay, the funds become available to use again.
